This image database website was created for the express purpose of collecting and displaying site surveys of weather stations used in climate monitoring.

This project is volunteer supported, and anyone can participate in the survey. You can browse the photo database and view the content freely. Use of the imagery in other media is granted by approval of requests to info {-at-} surfacestations.org See the rules for submission and terms of use.

Pay particular to the area of respecting privacy and property rights of station locations and observers.

Many weather stations are located on private or restricted property. Permission must be obtained from the site curator, property owner, or facilities manager before conducting any site survey.

If you'd like to contribute to the database, you must first register (it's free).

You'll then get a confirmation email after approval by the site administrator. Be sure to check your spam filter if you don't see it show up. Approvals can take up to 48 hours based on the work load of the administrator. The administrator reserves the right to deny registration and access for any reason.

Download our How to Guide (PDF) Locate the station, then photograph and complete the site survey document for the station, save it as a PDF. Then logon, and upload images and PDF format site survey, type in captions, and you're done.
